Youth Ministry at Howard Payne

The Master of Arts in Youth Ministry is comprised of 42 hours, including biblical, theological, and applied ministry courses. In lieu of a thesis, the degree requires three semesters of internship, each focusing on a different aspect of youth ministry and also providing an emphasis on spiritual formation.

The degree does not require students to change residence. Students may earn the degree while serving in a full-time youth ministry position. The great majority of current students are serving as full-time youth ministers in local churches.

Each graduate course has been designed to address a particular need in preparation for effective ministry to teenagers and their families. The teaching faculty consists of eminently qualified individuals who are committed to providing excellent preparation and training for youth ministers.

Our desire is that God will use this program to strengthen youth ministers and their families and in turn produce healthy and effective youth ministries that bring honor to His name. The program utilizes modular classes, which are typically week-long classes held on the main campus in Brownwood, accompanied by pre- and post- assignments. A student could finish the entire degree in a minimum of two years
